Oceanside Surf Lessons for Beginners are popular for people traveling and people who have moved to town recently. Surfing is on a lot of bucket lists and Oceanside is known as a good beginner location.

Beginner surfers want to learn in a foam wave and the beach break at Oceanside provides a long ride as the real waves break and roll to the beach. The beginner starts in waist deep water and rolls over onto his surfboard as the wave approaches.

He learns to catch the foam wave and after he has mastered the beginner techniques of popping up and riding to the beach, he can paddle out to ride bigger foam waves and after a few trips to the beach try some small real waves.

Mastering the Surfer Pop Up

The beginner pop up requires some strength, flexibility, and a little agility. The surfer catches the wave and puts his hands on the board next to his chest. Then he moves one foot under his butt and places it flat on the board. This requires some flexibility that a lot of people don’t have.

The next step is to stand on the rear foot to release the hands from the surfboard. As the hands rise and the torso becomes more upright, the surfer is moving his other foot to the front of the board.

He has to land in the correct position. Feet are shoulder width apart and the hips and shoulders are squared to the front. Weight is equal on the front and back leg. Knees are flexed. In the correct posture, the board goes straight to the beach.

Most beginners fall in love with surfing even if they are not good. There is a thrill of catching a wave on a board that is a connection to Nature. Wind power creates waves so they are riding on the wind.
